Old Metal Thursday, A to Z: KING DIAMOND

K is apparently for KOPOUT.  In all fairness to me, I’d feel totally remiss in my duties if KING DIAMOND didn’t get the plug as the most obvious of choices for this annoying 5-point Scrabble tile.  Sorry KREATOR.

No album this time, since I’m sure you’ve heard ’em all.  Here’s an off-the-charts energetic live show from the classic era for your pleasure instead.  Have a beer or two and relax for an hour, especially if you missed the King on his recent go-around of the US.  Don’t forget that Metal Blade has been busy reissuing these oldies on vinyl, completely affordable and straight from the OG packaging.  For once you can’t lose!

Check back next week as I struggle to find words for some silly death metal band beginning with “L.”

Cheers!

Recently, nostalgia got me, and I passed out while listening to “Gypsy”, “Curse of Pharaohs”, and “Nightmare” on repeat.

There is something innocent about this band. Different times, different people.

Hard to tell, it’s not like we would understand, right? With all these iPods, mp3, DVDs, and etc.

Thankfully, times might change, but the songs remain the same.

Seeing him live for the first time in 10 years last October definitely put me on an extended KD/MF run. I may go a few months without him but the King is always lurking around the corner!
